Many in the yoga world were shocked and saddened to know of Geeta Iyengar's death Sunday, December 16. The acting head teacher of the Iyengar Yoga system and eldest daughter of BKS Iyengar, Geeta transformed the global yoga community through tireless acts of teaching and publishing until her last day. She had long been managing a connective tissue disorder and died of a sudden heart attack. I am so sad for one of the world's most important yoga women to pass on, and I hope teachers especially will carry on in her spirit of boundless energy and teaching for the betterment of people and society.
